UNESCO's Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation recognize the efforts and contributions of individuals and organizations within the private sector who have successfully conserved and restored structures and buildings of heritage value in the region.
The annual Heritage Awards
programme is one strategy the Office of the UNESCO Regional Advisor for
Culture in Asia and the Pacific is using to promote conservation of the
region's built heritage, which is often threatened by unchecked
development, neglect, or inappropriate reuse. UNESCO believes that
recognizing successful preservation efforts helps spur additional projects
within the same community, advocating the culture of preservation and
conservation through the use of appropriate conservation techniques and
approaches. |
